Dash

For those of you who don't know, Dash is the in-utero name of our baby :) We decided we needed to call the baby something besides "it," and one of my friends at work came up with "Dash." Colin is pretty happy with it since it makes the baby sounds like a sporty super-hero:)

I think it's pretty cute and it's funny - we pretty much always refer to the baby as Dash now. So, I thought I'd better let you all know what to call him/her until the real name is revealed.

Things are going really well, although I've had a cold all week which is making me feel like all I want to do is sleep. And even that is difficult - I was so congested last night that I had to sleep sitting up! Every time I layed down I felt like I was choking because I couldn't breathe. So, hopefully I'll be better soon.

We're going up to the Sunshine Coast this weekend for Colin's "Family Day," so I should have some pictures to post from that. I hope you're all doing well!

28 weeks

The countdown is on...less than 3 months to go!!!
We caught up with our friends Alex and Alan on Tuesday, which was really nice. Alex is due a week before me, so we have lots to talk about :)

We are finally going to get the baby's crib this weekend and try to get most of the stuff we need for the nursery, so I'm really excited for that. I don't think the nursery will be finished for awhile, but once it is, I'll post some pictures.

Not much new is happening with the baby, although s/he is definitely moving around all the time now! I wish you were all here to see and feel the bump :)

Less than 13 weeks to go!

This one looks like I've stuffed a pillow or something up my shirt! The baby is moving around and kicking lots now, which is pretty exciting. Of course, any time Colin tries to feel the baby moving, s/he immediately stops :) He has felt it a few times, but not as much as he'd like. We've been having a good time buying things lately, but we still have a lot of work to do on the nursery. We bought a Nappy Wrapper this weekend - that's what they call a Diaper Genie here :)

Hopefully we'll have the nursery done soon and I can post some pictures!

Happy 4th of July!

Hi Everyone - Happy Independence Day! Now that I've finished posting pictures from our trip, we're back to the boring ones...

me at 26 weeks

We decided to have a 4th of July BBQ, so hopefully I'll get some pictures at that. We're not actually having the BBQ until Saturday the 5th, but we figured that was ok since it will be the 4th in the US when we start it :) Our friends Jean and Andy are coming to stay with us for the weekend and a few other friends will come over - Colin has promised everyone that I will sing the Star Spangled Banner and God Bless the USA for them. Haha - isn't he funny??

End of our trip

Here are a couple of pictures from our last day in New Zealand. We drove back from Queenstown to Christchurch (about a 6 1/2 hour drive) along the east coast (we originally drove down on the west coast). We stopped a few times for pretty scenery...
The funniest part of the whole trip was the hotel we stayed in that night in Christchurch. We found it online and since we were only going to be there for a few hours (had to leave at 4:30am to get to the airport) we thought we'd save some money and go for the cheaper hotel. Plus this one looked really nice - it's brand new and modern, and it got good reviews from a lot of people who had stayed there. The reason, the internet said, it was so cheap is because the rooms are very small...

This is the entire room! I am literally standing in the doorway to the room. As you can see, the bed is surrounded by walls on 3 sides, so you can't walk around it (at the foot end of the bed there is a little desk). There wasn't even room to open our suitcases unless they were on the bed, and then they had to be stored underneath the bed (as you can see, the bed is elevated off the floor just for this reason). I didn't take a picture of the bathroom, but it was the exact replica of an airplane toilet - with the metal floor and everything! The bathroom door wasn't even a normal door that opens and closes, it was a sliding door because there was nowhere for the door to open into the room or bathroom. It was hilarious. Luckily, we were only going to be there for a few hours - so we went out to dinner and came back and went straight to bed. And it was very new and modern.

The other thing I have to mention, because I know that everyone likes to complain about gasoline prices - the cost of gas in New Zealand is $8.71 per gallon! We spent about $300 on gas in the 4 days we were there!

I am not complaining though - we had absolutely the best trip and I wouldn't trade any of it! I hope you've liked the pictures :)
